The Fran Robinson Memorial Scholarship

Preparing Youth for the Future: Achieving Excellence, Inspiring Greatness, Motivating Youth to Lead and Serve

With this scholarship, we are delighted to continue the legacy of our beloved past President and 2001 Best of Reston honoree, Fran Robinson. Fran was a tireless public servant and civic leader who found so many ways to serve, including facilitating education and awareness of breast cancer in Africanā€American women;
securing community partnerships to provide medical and dental care for children in Fairfax County; and reviewing college applications for friends and colleagues. She was a trailblazing advocate for children who believed that, with care, love, exposure, and opportunity, all could be successful in life. It is in this spirit that we proudly offer the Fran Robinson Memorial Scholarship. For 2020, we will award four merit-based scholarships to local African-American high school seniors who are residents of Fairfax County, Virginia. Scholarship award amounts include: (1) for $4,000, (2) for $2,000 each, and (1) for $1,000. Recipients must attend our scholarship reception in May 2020. Completed scholarship applications must be submitted in their entirety
by April 5, 2020. Please direct questions by email to Scholarship Co-chairs Kia Braxton and Dina Paltoo at
