President's Message

LaNay B. Coleman

On behalf of the mothers, fathers and children of the Reston Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website! We hope you use this medium to learn more about our organization, its commitment to children and the amazing activities that are being done by Jack and Jill chapters all across the country. It was September 1974 that the Reston Chapter was officially chartered. The 35 women who made up those original members were keenly focused on addressing the social and cultural needs of children. In the more than four decades since, the Reston Chapter has built upon that legacy and become a steady presence in the local community, providing thousands of dollars in scholarships to help local students attend college, distributing holiday food to those in need, donating supplies to local shelters, collecting books for local schools, registering and educating voters in advance of crucial elections as well as a host of other activities. This year, our chapter has centered our work under the theme of “Focused on Excellence for Our Children” to further expand upon the rich Reston legacy. I am proud to serve as President of the Reston Chapter, and I’m so very excited about the work ahead! I hope as you learn more, you will see our organization’s commitment to our children and our community.
Long Live Jack and Jill!
LaNay B. Coleman
President, Reston Chapter
